Tranquility at it's best. Peace and quiet, no roads, no noise - simply wonderful
Kings Lock - Typical of the locks above Oxford
Not too much room in these locks !
It pays to stay well away from the head sluices.
This is real "hands on" lock-keeping.
One of the beautiful bridges over the upper Thames
This arch has a nasty
surprise for unwary skippers - drop beams inside, sometimes not visible on the approach - avoid at all costs.
Typical of the riverbanks above Oxford
Navigation is clearly marked but vessels tend to
only use the port hand arch (going upstream) due to the bend of the river and sometimes overhanging branches.
Perhaps not the most scenic of
riverside pubs but once inside the atmosphere of a real English pub is a joy. Real homecooked food with fresh veg. from the local allotment, reasonable prices and a good cellar.
Owner operated. Situated on the short reach between Osney Bridge and Osney Lock. Visitors always made very welcome.
